I know a LOT of truck drivers and trucking company employees. You need
to get out of Fantasyland and see how it's done in the Midwest, in
fact, everywhere else.
Driving trucks in California is nuts. Driving them in New York is bad
enough, but California is ten times worse. That's why California
truckers all suffer brain damage after a short period of time. JB Hunt,
and all the other big TL carriers won't recruit California drivers
anymore. They are all like you, Bill, although admittedly few are quite
as advanced.

You are so full of sh*t! Let's see a picture of one of these truck
drivers. And one of the their logs, you might learn something by reading
what they sign off each day. Like you know that driver that let his bus
catch fire in Dallas is in jail now. And you probably haven't even
checked your oil in a week.

Well, yeah, but I suspect that by the mileage at which a properly
spec'ed and decently cared for and operated heavy diesel gets its
overhaul, the average passenger car is probably in the junkyard or
at best being nursed along in commute-beater or trickle-down-economy
status.

Get off your lazy, CJD-addled rear end and go look at the truck next
time you are parked next to a JB Hunt, CFI, CR England, Schneider truck
or a FedEx or YellowRoadway truck and ask if you can look at the dash.
No pyro, no trans or rear end temp gauges, no johnny bar, it's like a
pickup with one red and one yellow button for brakes and maybe an
interaxle diff lock and of course, if there's even a clutch pedal, you
have a range switch on the shifter. One, never two, no 13 or 18 speeds
anymore. Not in fleet trucks. I don't care about your uncle who has a
fourth grade education and special ordered a twin stick anteater
Kenworth. He's a fortunately nearly extinct breed now.
