I use teranews because my provider quit offering newsgroups and after
using Goggle for a couple of weeks I couldn't stand it anymore.
Bill used to be a helpful guy, too bad he's being hounded by these
little ankle biters and can't seem to ignore them.

I am well aware of that, have been aware of it for a long time.

Bill has 'really' lost his mind.

He is determined to take down these Usenet groups and there isn't really
any stopping a psychopath unfortunately.

Too bad to. Bill actually used to respect the Charter for this group
and the group members and was a valued group member.

The only real answer is for everyone to move to a forum that allows
moderation and then the crackpots can be told to behave or be banned.
If I knew where else the regulars were hanging out I'd go there too.

The trouble with moderated groups is:
Someone else has control over what you have to say, and who you get to say
it to.

Not to mention the whole idea that if one of the moderators decides he or
she doesn't like you for some reaso they can be just as power crazed and
problematical as the trolls in this group have become. Back in the day of
MIRC - whoooo Boy! It was quite the little soap opera.

I would rather block a few trolls than jump ship. Seriously, why should give
up my right to tell someone to go F*** themself and run and hide from the
real problem?

Thanks anyway, but I personally hold with the theory of sitting in the chair
with a loaded shotgun on ly lap and the lights turned out. No one runs me
out, I'll leave when I'm God Damned good and ready.

As for the trolls, whoever they are nowadays, I don't see them and I'm sorry
that some folks have to.

This still IS a great group, but the only reason the trolls have taken over
is because they have beeen allowed to.
The lunatics have taken over the asylum.
If folks would band together like and just block and/or completely ignore
them it might eventually slow them down.

Every once and awhile I'll read the replies to some of the troll threads,
just for entertainment but I don't do it as a steady diet.
It's so very like high school drama that it makes me want to smack someone.
So, I ignore it in the hopes that I don't get pulled into it.

I say, stand your ground.
