OT - 225 and counting :-(
My message filter (in Mozilla Thunderbird) has deleted 225 messages in
this group since last night. I haven't been keeping exact counts, but
I'm sure the previous "high" count was in the 80s. I sincerely hope all
the good folks in this group have and are using message filters and/or
kill files. I will continue to read this group and occasionally
"contribute", but I'm sure that some, possibly many have, jumped ship so
to speak. To those that remain, I wish you hardy survivors well. Keep
those filters and kill files up to date. :-)

I don't use kill files so see all the garbage.
It's really too bad there are a couple idiots determined to kill the group.
Killfiles don't stop these ******** because anyone coming to the group
just sees a garbage group not worth wading through. We can't even
switch over the tech area to alt.jeep-l because these two ******** will
just follow and wreck that group too.
Too bad no one actually knows Bill personally so they could drop in on
him to see if he really needs the help he comes across as needing. He
must be on some bad meds these days or something.
Oh well, I am likely to hang in a bit longer only because I am bored and
stuck home disabled, but not much longer....

Re: OT - 225 and counting :-(
When I first started lurking here in 1997 this was an awesome group.
There were some jerks and fanboys, like Harry B., but for the most
part it was a good place to be. In the past couple of years its begun
to look like one of those neighborhoods that used to be nice. Some of
the neighbors take care of the place, but there are a few crack houses
dragging the whole place down. But this is Usenet and there isn't a
thing you can do about those lousy neighbors. Such as in my case
where my ISP doesn't provide a news server so I have to use google. I
get to see the full onslaught of the problem.
The only real answer is for everyone to move to a forum that allows
moderation and then the crackpots can be told to behave or be banned.
If I knew where else the regulars were hanging out I'd go there too.

I think it's the lack of meds more so than bad meds. He got sucked in to
the whole netcop thing and let it go to his head, and now for some
reason he just can't let it go. What he needs to do is shut the computer
off for a few weeks, and take the family on a vacation or something.
I think there are probably enough good forums out there that the good
people here could migrate to, but if enough people felt that a moderated
forum would be the answer, I would be willing to help get one set up. I
have set up a few commercial forums in the past, but it has been a while.
