Hi Mike,
That's why he put 304 in the subject line. ;-) Other Jeeps have
their pumps outside too, like when they used the 350 Buick V8 or the V6
pictured at: http://www.apple.queensu.ca/cj3b/EngineSwap.html

Yes clean up the oil pump cover and all valves well!
