Re: need help buying used 99 - 01 XJ
Thanks Mort,
I actually think I found one today. I'm bringing it to my mechanic tomorrow
morning. It ended up not even being a cherokee that I chose, I spent an
extra $5000 and went for a GC. It seems to be pretty nice and defenitely at
the low end of the price scale compared to others I've seen. It only has
60,000km and is fully loaded with the 4.7l and dana 44. I figure its an
okay price for $22,000. What really shocked me was that insurance on the
Cherokee "Sport" was about $200 more a year than the GC Limited. I thought
for sure it would be the other way around.
If I find something real bad with this Jeep tomorrow though I might still be
in the hunt so thanks for the offer.

Part-Time is for off-road use only, such as dirt, mud & snow. Full-Time
is just that, any surface, any time. It could be you didn't fully
engage Part-Time or the transfer case needs adjustment. I know mine did
about a year after I bought it... under warranty though for me.

Funny, I had the same problem with my rear wiper on my '98, also fixed
under warranty. It may be "normal" but it still doesn't work.... will
the dealer fix it?

On the Grand Cherokee or Cherokee (XJ) did you see these problems? Rust
can go with any vehicle in wet/snowy climates. I live in Southern
California so I don't know much about rust... as for the rear wiper the
car is used... these things happen. The important part is the dealer
going to fix it first?

The "part-time" position locks the front and rear driveshafts
together, you're telling us the front was not engaged, meaning
something's wrong with your viscous coupler.
