Mike or Bill or ane else wanna spell it out......
For a CJ5 with 258/T150/D20
I want to change to 258/T5/D300.
Here it is. Do I need a bellhousing? ....adapter?
I know the D300 lines with my axles. I am just researching
this in earnest, but plan the project in the next 60 days or
so.

You mean a Borg Warner T-15 heavy duty three speed? Can you rebuild
it? Or are willing to sacrifice strength for the five speed, overdrive?
Because the switch remains American, more than likely the bellhousing
hole pattern, pressure plate, and pilot bearing and shaft length may
remain the same. Throw out bearings will more than likely have change
over the year differences, but you should be able to use yours. So
probably just the smaller input shaft disk should get you hooked up. You
didn't give us any years, so you might check the rough compatibility

It is a 1977 CJ 5.
It is a T150, I think that means it's a Tremec. The low gear
is nothing
special in it, and the fact that it is a 3 speed is a royal
PITA on the
highway. So, yes, your right, the overdrive is a major
consideration. There
is nothing wrong with the three speed actually, I am really
looking for a
bit more top end with lower rpm.
I have need of long highway drives (800mi) every other month
or so, and
don't like feeling like I have her wound tighter than a
watch spring for
that many hours.
But I decided to indulge my childish nature and therefore
refuse to give up
my Jeep.
I am still open to ideas or suggestions at this early stage.

Never heard of it, I just presumed all T nomenclatures were Borg
Warner, not Mexican:
