Re: Liberty CRD
Slightly OT, but I bought a brand new TJ in '99 in Florida when I was
in the Navy and when I went to register it in NY (my home state) the
title check or VIN check or whatever said I couldn't register it in NY
or CA. Some emissions crap they failed to add, I always supposed (I
might add this vehicle has never had engine mech problem one in 5+
years, knock on wood- who needs the enviro crap?).

Re: Liberty CRD
According to federal law if the vehicle was 49 state legal it can be
registered in CA or other states adhering to CA standards once it has
some number of miles, as a used car. As long as it meets the 49 state
requirements it passes smog check.
On my project vehicle I'm going to register it as a 1972, and am
using a Service Replacement Block so the engine has no model year.
Once it is registered as a vehicle of that year with a state issued
VIN I will be able to drive it to California and license it in that
National Socialist state (you did know that Hitler was an
environmentalist, practically invented it in fact)and blow diesel
smoke at Llwellyn with impunity.

Re: Liberty CRD
I know us Jeep owners are supposed to be anti environment because of our
'gas guzzlers', but to add clouds of black smoke all over our nice clean
trails and nice fresh air on the trails is just wrong!
That will set of the environmental freaks big time.... I would even be
tempted to join them...
If you ever came on a run with the Canadian RAMJ+W group, expect to be
put at the rear of the line. No one I know will tolerate your stink nor
would we tolerate following you so we are forced to breathe the stuff.
I am proud of my 11L/100km or 23 mpg in my CJ7 and it don't stink!
