Re: Jeep vs Pedestrian accident
That requires thinking, something we don't always do when we've
just run over two people. Shut it off, and put it in neutral, is what I
did when my '84 and '89 T-Birds went full throttle via the step motor
caused by their ignition switches falling apart. Carburated cars will
not shut under full throttle, but switch pre detonation and continue to
pull the car with no brakes until diver puts it in neutral, been there
done that too, with creative six carburetor linkage.

Re: Jeep vs Pedestrian accident
Is there no interlock that requires the brake pedal to be pressed to get it
out of park? I am thinking that this ought to be a standard thing by now,
especially after all that Audi problem of some time ago.....

You read closely. It says the idiot reached in and started it, then managed to
get it into reverse, getting himself dragged.
All of this happened AFTER the 75 year old hit the wrong pedal, of course.
