Gives us some more information, like the year, engine, and whether
your shifter has a full time position. As I'm just guessing your light
is controlled by vacuum like this YJ transfer that also controls the
front axle:

start by look up into the transfer case, front driver's side for the
switch, and follow the lines, the one that goes up near the battery.

it is a 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee with a V6 and it does not have a full
time position.
