Yes, it's commonly used for trips just like this one from La Paz,
only this one made customs in San Diego, rather than flying under the
radar for a touch and go.

As another pilot who keeps up with this kind of thing and reads plenty
of flying related printed matter, I've never seen the term "pirate"

I'm not a pilot, never liked flying, as I spent many hours flying
with both my parents some at the controls as parents often let their
kids, out of Del Mar, Dad:
