That explains a lot. Now that sounds like mine. Below 15 degrees or so I have to be very careful not to push the button before unlocking the door. If I (or more generally, my wife) tries to open the door before unlocking it, we are in for a short delay while I fiddle with the lock. Something is dragging and not moving into position where the key can activate the lock mechanism. The is a spot in the travel of the lock button which will do the same thing - can't open the door, can't work the lock.
