incremental lift or all at once?

Re: incremental lift or all at once?
I did a 2" spacer lift on my TJ, but didn't use RE. I don't think the
shocks are quite necessary that come with a budget boost. Just get the
spacers. I wheeled (as hard as you can with a spacer lift) my TJ for about
18 months before going to a 4" lift. Then I sold my spacers to a buddy for
$50. They're still good as new and he's enjoying them on his ZJ.
I only paid $90 or so for my Daystar spacers (mabe less...). Check on eBay.
There's a guy, goes by Jeeperzcreeperz, that was great to work with. I've
bought quite a few things from him over the last couple of years.

Re: incremental lift or all at once?
I put the 2" budge boost and a 1" body lift in my Jeep TJ. I'm running 33's
with no problems at all. I do need to get the longer shocks in order to
take full advantage of the extra wheel travel provided.
I suggest this combination may be all you need, unless your going to do some
real radical off road stuff.
In addition to what I have I world suggest looking into lowering the
transfer case and disconnecting the shifter from the floor.
But I've taken this set up to the north woods Jeep Jamboree and had no
problems keeping up with the big boys. I am planning on going to a 4" lift
(long arm) and 35's. But to do that the transfer case, axel, will all need
to be modified. Raising the cost from $200 or so for the budget boost and 1"
body lift to several thousand just to get a extra 2 inches..
Good Luck..

Re: incremental lift or all at once?
Man the TJ's must have a really weak engine!
I am running 33's with 3.31 gears and besides not bothering to use 5th
because it bogs too easy, my CJ7's 258 goes like a scalded cat.
I can pull out 'fast' to 50 mph in 2nd, 70 mph in 3rd and 4th will bury
the speedo. 5th does still have power and pull as an overdrive, but the
rpm are low enough to lug and drink gas. If I stay in 4th on the
highway I get a sweet 23+ US mpg.

Re: incremental lift or all at once?
Not all TJs are weak -- just the 2.5L. Your 258 is comparable to the 4.0L,
which has plenty of power.
