Yes Bill, in 2000 the tensioner was introduced, I know because I had to
remove mine to install the Kilby. The tensioner assembly is still sitting in
my garage. If memory serves, you use a wrench to rotate the tension arm
enough to remove the belt. Hey, just like the instructions say, go figure.
Brian, look at Bill's pdf, but be sure to look at the 4.0L page, not the
2.5L page.

Hi Matt,
I put the 2.5 liter page in because there was no four liter idler
picture, so I assumed they are the same as they are at the same location
via their belt diagrams.
Upon installing Ford serpentine belts, I just pull it over the last
pulley, the power steering pump by hand, it easily collapses the belt
tensioner spring.

I put the 2.5 liter page in because there was no four liter idler
picture, so I assumed they are the same as they are at the same location
via their belt diagrams.
Upon installing Ford serpentine belts, I just pull it over the last
pulley, the power steering pump by hand, it easily collapses the belt
tensioner spring.

Hi Matt,
I put the 2.5 liter page in because there was no four liter idler
picture, so I assumed they are the same as they are at the same location
via their belt diagrams.
Upon installing Ford serpentine belts, I just pull it over the last
pulley, the power steering pump by hand, it easily collapses the belt
tensioner spring.
