Yep! Needed shorter pushrods. I had Crower check it all out and they made me
a set. Fortunately for me the Crower factory is here in the great shitty of
San Diego.
Those guys were great. I'd recommend them to anyone. They hooked me up with
a solid lifter and an adjustable pushrod. I took it home adjusted to fit and
then took the whole shooting match back with a hydraulic lifter from the
Jeep. They measured me up and the next day I had new rods. The day after
that I dislocated my shoulder and the whole project was put on hold until I
could work on it again. Well I ran out of time so my wife torqued the head
down (what a woman!, NO head jokes please) for me and I got the whole thing
together 3 days ago. The Jeep now runs like a raped ape! I HIGHLY recommend
this mod. Mileage seems to have improved, but it is a bit early to tell on
that, and tomorrow I'm going to wean back down to regular pump gas and see
if the detonation comes back. I expect it won't, but we'll soon see.
So what was wrong?
Rebuilt head plus rebulit block equals shorter pushrods. bottom line.
