It tells you what the stock resistance and voltages are so you can match
the aftermarket gauges to them.

For instance you cannot put a 12 volt gas gauge in unless you also
change the temperature gauge to 12 volts because the temp gets it's
power feed from the stock 5 volt fuel gauge.

yep I got that part - Empty/Full, 73 Ohms/8-12 Ohms

My dash is all custom - with mechanical temp and oil - I'll be rewiring from
scratch. I've decided to go with the Autometer Z Series gauges, like this
one:
