OK, but usually the pad is so loose we use a spring clip at their
end to keep them from squealing, as pointed to:

It is strange Bill, but normally when I see a caliper screwed up, the
inside of the rotor is the one with the bad or lesser wear pattern for
some reason. The outside is usually smooth. There are likely some
physics behind that with the levering action of stuck parts or
something.

Yes, usually something is a little wrong with every brake system,
that's why I pull every wheel and inspect, in performing an inspection.
And following a hunch I have found many pads breaking away from the
steel it was bonded or riveted to.
