Finally fixing it

Re: Finally fixing it
That usually is a charcoal canister failure or the valve behind the carb
on the PCV line.
For starters, check the PCV line carefully. It likes to get soft and
collapse at the elbow beside the carb.
Then trace the line to the T fitting or solenoid behind the carb. The
solenoid is a failed design and is recalled. The fix is a T fitting.
From this part, trace the other line to the top of the charcoal
canister. At idle pinch this line to the canister closed. If the idle
changes, the canister is shot.
This effectively shuts down the PCV system and oil will blow.
The canister should only purge when the engine is hot and at speed. It
uses a ported vacuum signal via the CTO valve.

Re: Finally fixing it
Where can I find a good diagram of the vacuum hoses? I have a hose with
nowhere to go and a nipple with no hose (different sizes). I also think
I'll be redoing this... The plastic cover sucks. One side has big nuts
that hold it down... unfortunately, the plastic lid posp out from
underneath them when tightened (even a little).

Re: Finally fixing it
They tighten down in inch pounds...
I just have the two top center nuts on the rocker bridges holding mine
on and it doesn't leak....
I was really careful about cleaning.
I have done others that don't leak too.
