It wasn't just that. When Tony Blair came to office, he promised a new "moral"
foreign policy, especially after what the Tories did; sold military hardware
to apartied South Africa, supported Pinoche in South America etc etc.
The British voters now look and see that nothing has changed, they're now
simply saying that they were actually better off under the tories, atleast
they knew what was going to happen and what to expect.
One thing, atleast they have decent debates in the UK in Parliament vs the
suck-up sessions that occur in congress and the senate where every member gets
up and talks about how much they love their president and how great the
presidents vision is for the future; even when the everything is falling
around them.
I watched 5minutes of congress and I almost fell violently ill because of all
the pocket pissing from both sides; where is the cut and thrust of parliament?
the debate? the rivally? dirt being slung?

It would have been interesting had the US remained part of the United Kingdom.
Rather than over hyped individuals, we would have droll tea drinking, soccer
and cricket watching Americans with a civilised accent ;-)
