France has been worn out as America's cowardly whipping-boy country.
That took what, six months? I bet the White House is secretly really
glad that Spain is pulling out. They must have known well before the
election that was a strong possibility, and after the election it was a
really strong likelihood. A few days later, when the new prime minister
announced to all the world that Spain would be removing its soldiers
from Iraq, that might have been a useful clue to anyone in Washington
that Spain would be removing its soldiers from Iraq. Of course, now that
Spain is doing exactly what they've been saying for weeks that they'd
do, the White House is acting all surprised and upset. One might suspect
that Bush wasn't paying attention.
Either that or he was paying attention, and he's just using this latest
event to rile up white-trash Merkins into hating those damn peace-loving
Europeans.
Who's next? Germany? That would be a laugh. An important part of the
United States' entire postwar plan was to make sure that Germany becomes
a nice docile, pacifist nation. Well, that's what it is. I give it about
six months to a year. And then I'll laugh a lot and maybe use some
clever compound words with Anglo-saxon roots to make fun of the Merkins
who buy into it.
Alternatively, there's England. Rumor has it that folk there aren't very
happy with Tony Blair and his participation on false pretenses in the
war. If he gets replaced, then it's a safe bet that England, too, might
pull out of Iraq. Oh, just you wait for the shitstorm of propaganda that
that event will unleash. If the White House is lucky, it won't be too
soon. They still have to get their news-cyle propaganda mileage out of
Spain.

Nope. Just a third of them. (When everyone else was fighting wars the
honorable and glorious way with brightly colored uniforms and thin red
lines, the colonial guerillas hit behind trees and sniped. Which if
anyone did it today that's be called terrorists.
Another third were loyal to the Crown. And the last third didn't care
one way or another. (Since England had already banned slavery, many
Blacks in the northern colonies were loyalists. They'd get a better deal
under the Crown than under independence.)

You stupid. You haven't caught on to the latest government propaganda
European-weakling whipping-boy nation: Spain. You can't call people
"French" any more if you're annoyed at their pacifism. You have to call
them Spanish now. Don't you pay attention to your President?
