Actually Bill...
You may remember that I said that my husband is a retired diesel / heavy
equipment mechanic.
You may ALSO recall that he drives an F250 powerstroke
I will add to that list, the Kubota tractor parked behind our shop, ALSO a
diesel.
AND
When I read him your post his EXACT WORDS, without prompting were:
"He is such a ------- idiot."
There you have it BUT, I will turn right now and present your question to
him and explain that he is not to answer in any way that would be considered
'tainted' by the estrogen level in the room.
"Honey, who do you think should be allowed to drive vehicles with diesel
engines?" Presented with all of your disclaimers of course.
He says "Anybody that damn well wants to!"
There you have it, right from the man himself. The man who used to make a
damn good living from working on equipment run by diesel engines.
Personally... I think they stink but they are hard working SOBs.

and fuel economy. Not powered by these ----- little gasoline engines that
waste fuel and don't have the
torque to pull a sick dog out of a mud hole. You're entitled to your view
but don't try to regulate other peoples rights to own whatever type vehicle
that they want by your warped impressions of the "need of the people". Fuel
used by light duty vehicles doesn't amount to a hill of beans when compared
to that of commercial users.
