Re: Delivery Time for Factory Order
Just wondering why you ordered one. There are so many on the lots
around here I could not imagine not finding one already built with
what you wanted or have them get one from a dealer swap.

Re: Delivery Time for Factory Order
This is Nathan's purchase, but I'm going to give my opinion anyway...
I order because there is generally always extra options on the lot
vehicle or they don't have something I wanted. Also, you have an added
cost in 'locating' a vehicle and transporting it to the selling dealer.
I buy around invoice or below so those charges are just plain annoying
to me. Besides, sometimes the window sticker has my name on it! :)

Re: Delivery Time for Factory Order
Something that few people realize is that a dealer will ALWAYS be more
willing to wheel and deal on a vehicle that is already on his lot than
one that is ordered. Definitely. And that means that if you negotiate,
you can usually get a better "enough" price on that vehicle on the lot,
enough so that those extra options you don't want can be "free" if
compared to what the ordered vehicle will end up costing.
A dealer will always prefer selling something he is already paying for
that is taking up space on the lot and will, once again, always give a
better deal on that than one he has to order and wait for. This is also
true for one he can do a dealer trade or dealer locate since both
dealers want to unload that vehicle already on the lot. Definitely.

Re: Delivery Time for Factory Order
Not if you're buying at the bottom dollar. Unless that dealer is
unloading something he just can't sell and is willing to take a loss, he
has vehicle cost PLUS interest invested in the 'lot' vehicle. An ordered
vehicle has zero interest expense attached. I find my best deals on
ordered vehicles...definitely. :) Unless you don't mind the purple
with lime green striped one on the back lot. I agree that the dealer is
most definitely wanting to sell you the one on the lot, however, bottom
dollar on that unit is not necessarily the best deal.
