600rpm is "normal" but that depends on if the AC is running and if you
have the I6, V8 is probably around 800.
There is no way to set the idle rate manually, no screws to twiddle with
or ***** to turn. High idle indicates a vac leak. Likely culprit is the
line running to the CCV (back of the valve cover to the intake rail), but
any of the soft parts can get old and split. A bit of TB cleaner sprayed
on them will let you know by making the engine stammer.
Also clean the throttle body, the idle control motor is probably gummy.
