Re: Can I Replace Command-Trac w/Selec-Trac?
selec trac has a center "differential" which means it can be used full-time,
i.e., even on dry pavement....which would mess up a command trac, which
turns both front and rear drive shafts at the same speed, a no-no on turns
and curves......

Re: Can I Replace Command-Trac w/Selec-Trac?
Select trac has a 'full time' setting. This has a center diff so it can
be used on dry roads.
Command trac only has part time 4x4 that needs dirt or snow to use.

Re: Can I Replace Command-Trac w/Selec-Trac?
If you're lucky you have the Command-Trac, New Processor 231
(part-time) Transfer 2H, 4H, N, 4L :
http://www.off-road.com/jeep/tech/xfer/np231.html Part-time, means you
may not drive in the four wheel drive positions on pavement or where
traction is good.
If you have my luck you have the Selec-Trac, New Processor 242
(full-time) Transfer 2H, 4PT, 4FT, N, 4L:
http://www.off-road.com/jeep/tech/xfer/np242.html and:

Re: Can I Replace Command-Trac w/Selec-Trac?
Bill,
Are you working from the notion that the command trac transfer case is
stronger for off road use than the selectrac transfer case? I've heard that
mentioned in this group in the past.
But, I'll trade you my np231 for your np242 straight across!
