My CJ for instance has a yoke on the t-case. Some t-cases are wide open and will empty themselves fast if the hole isn't covered and some others with some spline ends can pour it out if tipped or when running. The bad driveshaft sometimes takes out the t-case seal as it vibrates itself apart, that's wrong, 'most' of the time it does this at the same time destroying the pinion seal.
