Bearing issues

Can't get into the shop soon enough, and my TJ is my only
vehicle...needs opinions (fact would be better) as to how long I can
drive on the front axle. Read as: Rear propeller shaft (driveshaft)
removed from vehicle, transfer case place in 4H.

Re: Bearing issues

What bearings are bad? Does removing the rear axle stop those bearings from
moving? Can you remove the driveline without losing fluid out of your t
case?

| What bearings are bad?
Pinion bearings, maybe carrier as well, getting it rebuilt, probably
by Rob @ http://www.downeastoffroad.com/

| Does removing the rear axle stop those bearings from moving?
No, but by doing so, and removing anykind of actual load from those
bearing, the noise has gone away, so I do indeed know what the problem
is.

Yes. 1998 Jeep Wrangler (did you look at sig?) NV231 TCase (has
splined output shaft.)

And don't top post, it is terrible netiquette

Re: Bearing issues

Just drive the jeep, the noise from the bad bearings is only half as
annoying as someone criticizing you as you try to help them.
