Re: 93 Jeep Grand Cherokee Cranks, But No Start
FYI...
Spent all weekend running more tests and nada. Now the bloody thing
won't turn on the dash light at all. Not sure if the colder weather
has any effect. Going to try and get it to nearby Autozone (if I can)
and they can run hardcode tests. Maybe something will show up there.
Peeked inside tailgate and some things are a definite mis-match, not
to mention the door won't lock/unlock with either the key or remote.
Bodyshop is stumped and looking for a new tailgate.
I'm still waiting on a return call from them. Go figure.
Yep.. 93' is OBD-I

Re: 93 Jeep Grand Cherokee Cranks, But No Start
Sorry to revive a dead thread but my situation was so similar I just couldn't resist. I have a '93 Grand Wagoneer 5.2L and I had the symptoms of waiting endlessly for the fuel pump relay to kick in. A local shop went through the whole thing of replacing sensors, rebuilt the distributor, new coil pack, ignition switch, completely tested the fuel system. The remedy was eventually the computer. I bought one from ACE and had my local dealer put it in and my jeep runs and starts like new. On a side note, I took a chance buying a jet chip for a '94 dodge 5.9L on ebay for $4 and installed it on my wagoneer. It works like a dream. No regrets. I'm still in the process of new brakes, u-joints, track bars, and a lift, but when it's done I'll up some pics. You want mud? I live in mud ;)
Edit: I saw mention of the tailgate... is this a common failing to this model? I can't open mine just in the past couple months. Is this an easy fix?
