93 jeep cherokee clutch soft

I have a 93 jeep 4.0 5spd when I push in the clutch it won't disengage
the clutch until the very bottom and reengages right away. If i out
driving it hard the fluid level falls and i lose clutch but i can't
find a leak It has a new master in it any help would be great

Re: 93 jeep cherokee clutch soft

Clutch system is pretty simple: master, slave, and hose. Yours has the
cursed internal slave cyclinder that is a pain to get at. Refill the
master, bleed the system well, refill again. If the level drops again,
looks for brake fluid inside the cab, running down over the fuse block.
If not, it's the slave. Fix is to pull the drveshafts, crossmember,
transfer case, and tranny to get at the slave. If yo wind up doing that
much, I'd suggest replacing the clutch at the same time. Not much more
money, same amount of labor.

5 out of the last 7 or 8 master cylinders I have seen were bad out of
the box. They all leaked where the pedal shaft enters the cylinder.
Thankfully we bench bled them so I spotted the leaks before we installed
them.
