Re: 87 YJ magically turned into a '92 XJ
Well, I am extremely happy with my lift. I clear everything I try, the
stock spring packs are hardtop ones so it stays level even with a load
on it and it hasn't sagged in 8 years.
I used to off road 'hard' some days and still load it to the roof, with
racks and boxes up top and a back rack above the spare and 3 adults for
a 2000 mile camping trip last summer and it purred.
Here are links to some of the runs I have had it on. Most folks in
these photos are from this newsgroup and alt.jeep-l. Mine is the white
'glass CJ7.

Re: 87 YJ magically turned into a '92 XJ
As far as SYE kits are concerned, is there one or another company that
is better than another? I was reading something about a "hack and tap"
SYE - anyone know anything about it? It's probably not anything I'd
do, I'm just kind of interested, and I've never seen any write-ups or
anything on it.
My YJ will be my daily driver for as long as I can keep it on the road
- which might mean I'll have to drive something else for periods of
time while engine swaps, etc. are completed to keep her going. She's
my baby.

Re: 87 YJ magically turned into a '92 XJ
Hack and tap sucks. Tom Woods is the ONLY one to buy a CV shaft conversion
kit from. www.4xshaft.com I got my SYE from him and it was shipped fast and
made right the first time. Tom was INCREDIBLY helpful. I asked what the next
step would be if the shaft didn't fit. He told me it didn't matter if it was
my mistake or his, he would pay shipping both ways and fix it free of
charge. I called on a saturday morning to order the shaft. After three rings
I heard "Thanks for calling Tom Wood's custom driveshafts, this is Tom Wood,
can I help you?" Now that's service.
Not only was Tom great to work with and his product excellent, but my core
charge was also refunded in a very timely manner.
I went as far as to e-mail and thank Tom and thank him for his service. His
reply was cordial, with a PS to check my mail box in a few days. I recieved
a very nice Tom Woods tool bag and flashlight!
In short, TOM WOOD is the one to buy from. www.4xshaft.com
Carl
PS. I am not connected to Tom Wood in any way, I am just a really satisfied
customer.

Haha - I don't believe you. I've heard nothing but good things about
Tom Wood - I'll definitely look at him first.
Were the flashlight and toolbag as good as his driveshafts?
Very informative site he's got there, by the way, with prices for
different combinations of SYE and driveshaft - very nice.
I'm sure I'd never do a hack and tap, I was just wondering what it
entailed - some hacking and tapping, I would assume.
