Re: 31's causing noise in tranny?
Strange, the 98 'shouldn't' get a timing rattle....
I am not sure but could the chain in the t-case be a little loose or
does that even come into play in 2 wheel drive?
I am running 33's with 3.31 gears and can get a rattle if I don't pay
attention to my rpm, but that is only in the higher gears.
You are more describing a load rattle in lower gears.

Re: 31's causing noise in tranny?
I'm gonna be taking it in for a grease/oil to my mechanic bud. I'll
see if he can check for the problem in the tranny. Is there an
adjustment? Today, it's not very noticeable if I don't shift until 3K
rpms in 1st and 2nd. That seems high. I don't hear it in the higher
gears as much. Could it be that I just have to drive a little
different and shift at a higher rpm, with the different matchup?
thanks

see if he can check for the problem in the tranny. Is there an
adjustment? Today, it's not very noticeable if I don't shift until 3K
rpms in 1st and 2nd. That seems high. I don't hear it in the higher
gears as much. Could it be that I just have to drive a little
different and shift at a higher rpm, with the different matchup?
thanks
Jeff

Re: 31's causing noise in tranny?
I'm gonna be taking it in for a grease/oil to my mechanic bud. I'll
see if he can check for the problem in the tranny. Is there an
