I hope they can make the "Multi-Displacement System" work. Cadillac
tried it for a couple of years in the late seventies, to no avail.

I've had a chance to try the MDS on a Chrysler 300C and it is pretty
much undetectable. There is a change in the exhaust sound as it
switches on and off, but no detectable lag when you press the loud
pedal or a slight uphill triggers all 8 cylinders.
Granted this was with a brand new car, dunno how gracefully it will
age. However the Cadillac version from the 80's was a true POS when
it was brand new.
