We had that happen repeatedly on a Volvo we had. Something
involving the fan clutch. Make sure you get guaranteed work
done.

This is a electric fan mounted on the radiator, service manager
said the control system goes insane and turns the fan off nad on
cracking the fan..I dont know much about Jeep, this is my sons,
and on vacation.
I am familiar with GM and Honda.
I just hope they can make it home alright..he has had a lot a problems
with it, especially the brakes. He bought it new.

I'd not seen problems with electric fans, it is usually the clutch fans that
fail.
The brake issue was finally 'cured' late in the '02 model year by the change
from the problematic Teves to Akebono calipers.
There was a TSB on it.. you got new calipers, rotors, and pads...
First thing you should do is loosen and retorque the lugnuts to about 90
pounds all around
