Hi Dennis,
If it's a lifter give it an oil change, that usually brings an
abused lifer back to life.
BUT, I believe you have the typical cracked header on it's way to

Another possibility is a cheap Fram(R) filter without an anti-drain valve in
it.

LOL Don't be saying anything bad about my Frams. ;-) Usually we
hear the distinctive sound of main bearings when the oil drains back to
the pan.
