Exact fit. My recommendation is to give up on that idea.
Your decision depends on how much $ your going to part with.
First suggestion is to head to a local stereo store that does
competition audio and check out the "brag book"
Consider
XM radio
iPod
MP3
etc
Along with better speakers, base, amps, tuners, etc.
Beware, it's a slippery slope, stereo... :)

HESCO Supercharger - 300W IASCA Stereo - Edelbrock IAS Shocks
Gibson Exhaust - rear DCpower - custom gauge install - Stillen Rotors

Re: 2001 GC Laredo - radio upgrade options
hold off for little while there is some new stuff coming down the pipe
that is really k0ol
some units don't have cd players anymore all media sticks that go from
puter to car
but cassettes are on the way out next to 8 tracks
mps palyers tap in and such
there is wiring kits that directly plug into the factory wiring from the
radio no splicing wires and the factory amp will work

Your radio is a DIN2 size chassis, most aftermarket units are in the
DIN1 or DIN1.5 size range. They have face plates that will cover the
gaps (although they look 'aftermarket') and wiring patch harnesses
that will take care of the wiring. Krutchfield is a very popular
source and they have both an excellent catalog and web-site.
btw - DIN stands for Deutsche Industrial Norm
