hmmm.. I have a GeForce256 sdr (original geforce!) in a P3 and have
had TNT2 cards and didn't have any performance complaints. But Ive
always had intel chipsets (not that I recall any documented issues
between Nvidia and non-intel chipsets).
Do you still have the drivers that shipped with the card(s)?

"Features" = "gnarly". Mike no doubt has a card that requires an
initialization sequence that is not being done properly by the driver that
he has installed. In that case, it is trying to emulate everything in
software, with the results that he has posted. Unless he is actually a
gamer (rhymes with lamer) I would recommend pitching it in the trash and
sticking with the old PCI card.

He says that the card is slower even during boot up, which happens
before drivers are loaded, so it's more than a driver issue. But,
seeing as both of the cards he mentioned ARE ancient by any standards
<g>, it might not be worth the time spent so far. If he wants to play
any of the current games out there, he'll need something newer/better,
anyway and if he isn't, then that old (trident?) card should be good
enough (but I doubt it will be as some "basic" windows apps out there
now require DX9 support).
And don't be slammin us gamers! :o
