I am not running bigger tires. I got 13.2L/100 including a few hours of wheeling witch really dropped my average. I am still getting use to how to drive it to get the beat milage. The tank that I am on right now should net menin the low 11's once I fill it and calculate it out. I will be getting a programmer in the spring as that is when I am installing my lift and rims/tires. I have just always ran 91 shell. I got using it with my Subaru and I have not tried to put 87 in the jeep yet. I will this tank if it does not make much if any difference. Thanks for the info.

There are definitely many different scenarios and there is some good detailed info out there. Personally i have tracked my mileage and recorded any changes made to the vehicle or differences in driving duties i.e. hauling a trailer etc.
My Jeep specs as of right now 08 Unlimited, 3.8L A/T, 3.73 gears, 35" Duratracs, factory bumpers, no extra weight.
My findings to date:
Average mileage stock before bigger tires, standard oil - 17.5mpg = 13.4L/100klm
Average mileage stock before bigger tires, Syn oil - 19.5mpg = 12.1L/100klm
Average mileage 35" tires O/D on - 15.2mpg = 15.5L/100klm
Average mileage 35" tires O/D Off - 16.0mpg = 14.7L/100klm
Average mileage runnning 91 or 87 same result with O/D Off - 16.0mpg = 14.7L/100klm
Average mileage with Superchips 87 tune O/D Off- 16.3mpg = 14.4L/100klm
Average mileage with Superchips 91 tune O/D Off- 16.5mpg = 14.3L/100klm
Average mileage with Superchips Tow tune on 91 octane O/D Off - 17.3mpg = 13.6L/100klm

As you can see by my findings running Premium didn't make a difference on the stock tune.
The 2 biggest mileage increases where obtained by 1) switching to Synthetic oil, 2) installing the Superchips programmer..
My average cost to run Reg 87 Octane = $0.1977 per Kilometer and Premium 91 Octane = $0.1948 per Kilometer. As you can see a properly tune motor can run more efficiently on Premium.

UPDATE ... UPDATE..

So 91 Octane on Tow Tune has netted an average 17mpg. 16mpg if I step on it too much and 18mpg+ if I cruise along at 90 - 100kph... I've seen as high as 20mph on a full tank of 100% highway driving. I average 420 to 500 klm from full to 1/4 tank.. Performance is awesome in this tune and gas price to usage works out about the same as running reg.
Anyway after a month of tow Tune I have filled up with regular and switched to 87 Octane tune. OK not fun there is definitely a performance difference here. I noticed it as soon as I pulled onto the street and it doesn't climb hills as well. Doesn't shift as hash though. Dash is telling me I'm getting better mileage but we'll see when I hand calculate on next fill up..

I can just imagine how sluggish it would feel if I went back to all stock configuration cause even the 87 tune was a marked difference of stock...

If this is the kind of difference folks are seeing when they testdrive the new Pentastar over the 3.8 its no wonder they are impressed, however after running this tune on my 3.8 I may not be so impressed when I test drive the new 2012 this week.. I will report back of course..

UPDATE:

OK so I went back to 87 Octane Tune and run either midgrade or fill up with 91 Octane every 3rd tank.. Best fuel mileage average so far mixed 18mpg.. Performance although not as good as the 91 on tow tune is acceptable and still much better then stock.. At this time I really don't see the point of tracking any fuel economy any further as the weather is getting colder and fuel consumption will go up. I may however compare octane levels and klm per tank to see whether it is more cost effective to run premium in cold weather.

ON TO THE 2012 TESTDRIVE ---
Just to continue what I stated in my previous entry about the 2012 testdrive.. Turns out the test vehicle was a 2012 Sahara 5spd auto with 3.21 base gears. Compared, the 08 with Superchips is comparable in acceleration when in the right gear, therein lies the big difference. The 5 spd auto seems to always be in the right gear whereas the 4spd, especially with bigger tires struggles to find the right gear. I can see now that a Rubicon with the new auto and 4.10 gears will be great for those that want bigger tires. I would personally like to see a head to head comparison between a programmed 3.8L vs 3.6L with the manual transmission which has not changed for 2012. This would determine if the auto trans any factory programming is truly the failing point of the 3.8L and not the engine itself.

Yet another UPDATE:
The last few tanks I've been alternating between regular and premium with the 87 octane tune. Performance is good, pulling power is good. Fuel economy about the same, cost per kilometer just a bit cheaper, due to every second fill up is regular. I also put the stock muffler back on and it seems to have a little more power, but definitely smoother.. Evidently this motor needs a little backpressure to run properly..
Tired of UPDATES yet????

Jeff, I read your posts with great interest ! Keep them coming ! I just got my leveling kit, wheel spacers and trailer hitch for my Rubi yesterday. Can't wait to install this weekend ! I checked Habour Freight ( sort of like a Princess Auto) out of the States and thinking of a 9000lb Badland winch and the price..350$ !!!

I think you mean ENGO winch. I have a 10000 lb one. I got mine for $309.00 shipped to
Ogdensburg NY and paid the taxes when I brought it across the border.

They do list for $349.00 on jeepaddons.com , but if you call and speak to Chris X1884 he will do the $309 deal. They are actually selling them with synthetic line as well now (Wish I had of waited!)

$289.00 for 9K with steel line
$309.00 for 10K with steel line
$429.00 for 9K with synthetic
$449.00 for 10K with synthetic

The price may go up a fair bit if they ship direct to Canada as they are pretty heavy!

I'm happy with it so far...But have only done a couple of pulls.

Here's an interesting test comparing winches:

Hey XXSS, do you like the rope or would you prefer the 7/19 wrap stainless?
