Gas Mileage

Gas Mileage
Hi,
I'm new to the Jeep world.
I just purchased a 2010 Mountain Edition. I've only had it for 2 days now and i find it's really terrible on gas.
Is this just because it's new, or should i expect the same for as long as i own it?
There is only 711 km's on it at the moment. Full tank last night and 211 km's later i'm already down 1/2 tank.
Will this get better after the motor is broken in?
Thanks for the advice.

Re: Gas Mileage
Welcome to the wonderfull world of Jeeps, congrats on your new ride!!
Don't forget to wave!
Well....one doesn't buy a Jeep for it's MPG or L/100, it's assumed it won't be that of a Honda Civic.
You should do better once you get a few KMs on your ride, I recall that was the case with mine when new. Right now with a 08 JKU, Auto, 3:73, and bone stock, with or with out air, top up, loaded on the highway I avergae 23 MPG as per the dash calc, and it drops to 19 ish in town. (have yet to calc with out the dash read out)
I cut out a few things in my daily budget to help fund fuel....to me it's worth every penny, get to drive Jeep and enjoy all of it's benifits.
We all have our vices.
Happy Jeepin!

Re: Gas Mileage
You mean you have the 4-1 xfer case/e-disco sway bars/lockers front&rear/4.10 diff gears and your getting lousy mileage ??
I'd take it back to the dealer--
You may have already switched to winter gas in Canada and that makes a diff-
Good luck

Re: Gas Mileage
I still have the 3:73 in it, but the look is like the Rubicon. All the i have is 17 inc rims, 32 inch tires, and air condition. That's it.
It's basically a sports package with the bigger tires. "Mountain Edition" It has the same rims as the rubbicon, and same tires, but that's it. no power locks, no power windows.
It's a sports package with a bit of fluff on it.
and it's automatic.

Re: Gas Mileage
That is one sweet looking ride.
I just hope mpg's get a tad better. i do approx. 110 kms a day on the highway 90 to 100 km's an hours
I'm not complaining, i just didn't think they were that bad with the advertised listing of 27mpg

Re: Gas Mileage
Heh Heh, Well I bought mine in OCT of 08, in Richmond Ca. and in it's stock condition it was getting about 19 mpg--
Now after all my mods and moving the jeep to 4200 ft (Nevada) it avg about 16 mpg and I think the computer (ECM) has adjusted for the altitude and helped with the mileage--
I would give it a couple thousand miles to see if it improves--if not have your dealer "flash" the computer (warranty) and see if that helps-then, if not, you might buy a SUPERCHIP FLASHPAC , $350 bucks(), they seem to help with mileage and auto shift points-Google it
I don't have one, I have the AEV Procal Module, that resets speedo and disables the TPMS icon/chimes and other things
Good luck
