How does one remove the pcv valve on a 4.0L 6cyl cherokee?

 

What year is your cherokee?

 

It's a 1998 cherokee sport 4x4 4.0L inline six. I have 2 hoses on the valve cover,1 at the front which goes to the air box & 1 at the rear of valve cover which goes to the intake manifold. I can't get either one off from the valve cover. Is there a special way to rmv these connections?
