Cherokees & Chains
Does anyone run v-bar chains and a LT 10 ply tires on their Cherokee ?
The P225/70R16's on it don't seem to have the space for chains in that wheelwell. Owner's manual says no chains on anything bigger than P225/75R15's ?
Thoughts welcome.

According to my calculations both sizes are the same diameter but the 70 profile tyre is wider at the tread which would make them closer to the sway bar and control arms at the front when you turn and closer to the inner fender at the rear.

Thank you for the calculations. I am tire size ignorant and surprised at the size of the wheelwell. Odd that Jeep would spec a size that put chains closer to sway bars and such.
After 20 years of Suburbans, it 's time I learnt some new tricks. Local tire shop didn't have much in the way of ten ply tires, in Jeep sizes.. Blast rock eats anything less. Chains aren't used often but are a wonderful thing to be able to reach for.
Time to take the Cherokee to the tire shop and let them figure it out.
