Default lowering soft top

Hi everyone, my name is Lila. I am an older female with my first jeep. I love it but am having difficulty when I want to put down the top. Particularly with the flaps in the channels. The whole process seems very cumbersome.
I'm thinking about modifying the top by having a sunroof sewn into it so that I can just peel back a portion of the top.

Has anyone ever tried this or do you have any suggestions to make putting the top down any easier. I've always had power room convertibles in the past.

Thanks.

If your JEEP is a 2004 its not a yj but a tj. I haven't heard of anyone doing what you plan on doing to the top, but I am not saying its not possible providing when you cut canvas and you'll have to make sure the cut is sewn somehow to prevent it from tearing and around the seams it has to be weather proofed to prevent water from entering. I would weigh the cons against the pros b/4 engaging in something that just might cause you more head aches than it was worth. Good luck on this and if you do do it please take pics after and lets see may be you will have invented something new..:).
