Hey guys. Im new to the forums. I bought my mom a 1991 jeep yj for her birthday. Its her "dream" vehicle. I plan on building it with her, nothing too hardcore but I want it to be a good solid daily driver as well as having the ability of doing some light off road. I do have a issue with the doors and Im hoping I can get some help from some experience jeep owners.

The inside door handles keep breaking. I have ordered 2 different pairs from Morris 4x4 center and they all broke within a week of install. Im thinking there is something wrong with the metal rods/linkage the door handle hooks up to. I would like to replace the complete door as there is some rust on the window frame. I have done some google searches and checked with some online suppliers of jeep parts but I havnt been able to find any hard doors. I have found lots of half doors with the soft top but thats not what I want. The only hard doors I have found have came from people parting out their YJ's. Im worried if I bought a used door that it may not fix the problem. Is there any suppliers that have replacement hard doors? Should I replace the linkage inside the door? (is that possible?) Or do I have to suck it up and just get the half doors with the soft top?

 

That's a lot of questions, lets look at one thing at a time. How exactly are the door handles breaking, a good description would be ok, a picture would be better.
