Default 95 YJ... need some help

hi
thanks in advance for any help and advice.

Ive got a '95 YJ and its got some demons that i need help with. Its a 95, with 2.5L, 5 speed standard, 234km.

Jeep has been sitting for a while, about 2 years or so. Starts no problem, idles to about 2000rpm, and when it warms up it slowly idles down to about 800rpm. Takes a while, ten minutes or more to get there.

When its idling at the 2000rpm and i press the gas peddle it falls on its face and wants to stall out. I can feather the gas and it gets back up and rpms sound normal, i can rev it up to 3 grand no problems. And if i slowly press the peddle it idles up smoothly, to 3 or 3500 and returns back to the 2000 when i release the peddle.

When it idles down to 800 to 1000, ill press the gas peddle and it fall right down and nearly stalls, and i have to leave the gas peddle alone and itll come back up to 800 to 1000. And other times ill do the same thing and it nearly dies, i get it back up to running again and then its idling at 2500 to 3000.

However, everytime no matter what, once i turn it off or it actually stalls, i cannot restart it. The battery goes dead if i keep cranking. Ill pull the battery terminals, and i have to leave it for a few days, sometimes a week and then itll fire up again like nothing happened.

I have sucked as much fuel out of the tank as i can, and added new fuel and octane boost to clean up any fuel i couldnt get to. New cap and rotor, wires are good, it has what i assume is an aftermarket holly ignition box and coil. Ive replaced a TPS sensor, and the other sensor that its the throttle body, and a map sensor on the firewall. I added each one separately and same running results. Granted they are all from the junkyard and are used but identicle results before and after replacement. There is good fuel pressure at the fuel rack on the top of the motor. Ive done the shake test but i havent found anything. Ive also pulled each spark plug wire and injector wire and the motor stumbles and then comes back to idle again when they were replaced.

sorry thats a lot of info but its all i can think of that i can do without taking it to a mechanic. any help would be really appreciated

As far as the idling, did you pull the throttle body and thoroughly clean it out?

No I haven't done that yet. But if that's a possible remedy I will get on that to see if it helps. Thx

That's what cured my jeep from stalling out every time I came to a light. Pretty easy to do.

Did you try pulling codes to see if the computer is seeing anything? My initial thoughts though are either a clogged cat or a vacuum leak.
