Canada 89 YJ Sahara

Hi everyone,

I just picked up a '89 YJ Sahara this weekend. It's all stock and has never seen a trail. Is there anything I need to be aware of with this model year? It has the carbed 6 cylinder and is running great. The vac lines for the front diff are shot (easy fix). It came with both tops and I will be looking to sell the hard top. I will add pics tonight.

Thanks a bunch!!

Now why would u want to sell the hardtop? Doesn't it snow in Edmonton? You'd find the hardtop very useful on those cold snowy days of winter. What u should look for not really much except that it probably has big mileage on it, so drive it like u want it to last another 10 years unless you got it for a song. Just noticed on ur profile that u have a samurai too, a little suggestion don't park them both in the same garage, as the jeep will eat it.. lol

I'm selling the hard top because I just cant stand them!! LOL The mileage is 154,000 Km. And I did get a sweet deal on it. I only paid $700.00 for it. It has only had one owner and has never been hit. In the next couple of weeks I will remove the front clip and body tub. This will be a great build.

Nice low mileage and only 1 owner. I guess thats what is meant by the old saying you were at the right place at the right time. The top you shud get a good price for it at least half of what the cost of the jeep was.

It was a good deal. The funny part is that it has been sitting for two years and last Saturday I droped in a new battery and 2 year old gas she fired right up!

I added a few pics in an album. check them out.

I will keep the stock 6 cylinder. I just placed an order for a Rocky Road Outfitters 6.5" spring over axle lift kit. In the next week or so it will move into the garage and I will start with a compleat body off tear down. I see 35" for tires and from there I have no other plans yet. Once the frame comes back from blasting I will have a better idea.

Make sure the frame is decent before you start ordering parts.

I have seen decent looking WhyJ's being parted out because the frames are toast.

The carbs like to act up on them makes it stall and act like it needs a tune up
