What did you do to your TJ Today?

Re: What did you do to your TJ Today?
Tore into my 4.0l 2001 TJ that I bought for $500....
P.O. overheated motor and never changed the oil...
Damage discovered so far....
Head warped .007" between cyl #1 and #3
#2 piston missing upper ring land (stuck to top of cylinder
#2 Piston badly scuffed as well. rings melted into piston suprisingly the bores are OK...
Cam badly wiped, lifters noisy, engine major sludge
when it was running it was pumping a gallon an hour into the exhaust
me thinks I'm looking at a used motor, this has been so badly overheated I wouldn't try to put a
new piston, cam and rings and not expect the other pistons to come apart...

Had the undercoating re-sprayed. I live on the ocean in Nova Scotia where the salt spray wrecks havoc, so have the undercoating redone every year. So far, no sign of rust.

Re: What did you do to your TJ Today?
Replaced rotted fuel tank holder yesterday, am new to the forum, recently purchased my first jeep, a 1999 tj sport 4.0l 5 speed. Looking forward to getting muddy next spring! Want to install a winch, any one know what I have to do, and what I'll need, any advice is appreciated
