Driving with doors off in BC
Anyone know the provincial law in BC for driving on the roads with the doors off?
thanks |
Re: Driving with doors off in BC
If your jeep came with doors from the factory, you need to keep them on. On the other hand I see a load of TJ's etc rolling around with their doors off. Your gamble. Check the many posts over on bc4x4.com

Re: Driving with doors off in BC
I live in Victoria and I've been driving with the doors off for 12 years and never had any problems. and I've been through many road blocks and even pulled over a couple of times.

Yeah, it's really up to the cop if he gives you a ticket or not, or even if they know the correct law themselves. I know a bunch of people on the mainland that have been ticketed for not having doors :( so it's up to you if u want to risk a VI or not.

Bottom line on the whole thing is that:
a) 1986 and later, all jeeps were factory fitted with doors and you "could" be ticketed if you haven't got them on (original equip ... blah blah blah) b) cj's and previous, doors were optional and you "could" still be ticketed if said cop wants to push things to the point where you have to prove that "your" jeep didn't have them from factory c) then there's the whole "define doors" debate ;0) I run without any time I want and have never had a problem with the constabulary - but then, sometimes grey hair buys ya a little leeway ;0) Not saying it's right, just saying I enjoy not being hassled as much as the young'uns around here. |

Warnings can result in inspections....
Don't necessarily want that. $$$$. |
Re: Driving with doors off in BC
I have the same question but for Alberta. It is my understanding that as long as you have your mirros re-mounted to the frame there shouldn't be any problems.

My doors are coming off this summer. Everyone else around here does it.
It won't be an issue unless I run into some crazy renegade cop. Low profile is the way to go. |
