Good luck, a long duration cross flow cams are designed to get the
gases out of the combustion chamber as quick as possible to make room
for a new charge, not hold in there for a complete burn.
A new catalytic converter and a hundred ninety degree thermostat,
and retarded spark may do, though, if you can find someone that'll smog
a mower.

Thanks Bill, I'll let you know what the outcome is. If it fails after a new
CAT and T-Stat, It'll tell me to keep with a stock engine replacement since
my current engine just ticked past 248,000 mi.
