Re: YJ Axle Seal
Wierd, but the FSM for the 88 also says to re-fill the shift motor
housing when you change the seals. Maybe it's just something like a
prelube because the level in the pumpkin isn't high enough to
guarantee getting anything out there soon enough? Or maybe filling it
from the pumpkin lowers the pumpkin level too much? It also makes no
mention of changing that inner seal (if any). Actually, the FSM I
have describes in detail how to make the tool with threaded rod to
both remove and install that @#$%^ outer seal. So far, I haven't had
too - maybe that's next week's leak <g>.

I have to agree .... this axle has been leaking since we "fixed" it
and I have never added any fluid to the vac disconnect housing. It has

Re: YJ Axle Seal
That has to be a prelube thing I would think. It takes a while for the
splash to get the fluid everywhere.
All the ones I have looked inside of were just wet with gear oil. There
was no big sump of it, maybe a little sump (bottom storage area) that
won't fill fast enough from splash if put together dry?
