the hand crank one I'm thinking of wouldn't let you spool too much on it
before it got messy.
I'm thinking more about bend radius' on the cable--you couldn't spool it
tight which means you couldn't keep a lot on it....which means you probably
wouldn't get much more than 10feet pulled before having to reset...
But reading mike's post it sounds likea come-along isn't too different as
far as distance pulled...
I fear this is getting closer to a debate! Just need someone on the grassy
knoll!

If you can't see a rut then how do you come to the conclusion that it
was high-centered on one? Have you ever experienced "Carolina Mud?"
heh heh It can be some SLICK stuff. The day I took that picture it
had been raining all morning. That was a WHIMP hill I'd been up
dozens of times in the past, but that day the mud was so slippery from
the rain that it was just crazy. Not the kind of mud you get bogged
down it. It's that red clay. It's like semi-hard packed regular mud
mixed in with motor oil or something. Once your tires load up you
ain't goin' NOWHERE. Bottom line: I had a baja. I got stuck. I got
myself unstuck. I bought a Jeep and continue to have fun in the mud,
only now it's easier to get unstuck by using an electric winch. If
you don't get stuck then you ain't playin' hard enough. I thought you
drove a "Real Jeep" and knew that, Bill. :-)
