Winch question
I bought a TJ that came with a Champion 8000lb winch with remote. I've heard
that most Jeepers don't get anything less than 12000lb for a winch for safety reasons. Should I just sell this winch or is 8000lb a safe rating for getting myself unstuck? I don't want that cable snapping when I'm nearby. |

Now 9000 or 9500 is more common but 12,000 sounds like overkill for a jeep although some do use it. |

Re: Winch question
An 8000 pound winch is the minimum. You want a winch capacity that is at
least double the weight of your Jeep, rounded up to the next available size. Most TJs use a 9000 pound winch, but 8000 is okay. Think twice before you hook it up to an Excursion that found the direct path to the ditch ... Don't know about champion, but an 8000 warn 8274 will pull my CJ out of
the mud nearly straight up. "griffin" <gryffy@WEEEEshaw.ca> wrote in message news:KR2ui.40403$fJ5.36416@pd7urf1no... >I bought a TJ that came with a Champion 8000lb winch with remote.
