Willys/Ford Engine Swap? Possible?
We've got a 1952 Willys CJ3A with a frozen motor. Instead of rebuilding it, will a Ford six cylinder (170/200/250?) fit the bellhousing? If someone has done this, is there a list of helpful hints on the web for doing this? We have the usual range of questions, i.e, motor mounts, bellhousing, clutch pivot, etc. Any and all help would be appreciated. Re: Willys/Ford Engine Swap? Possible?
The straight sixes are too long, although my Dad managed to squeeze
a 300" chevy into his CJ-2A. A better choice would be the Chevy V6, like the old Buick V6 Jeeps: http://www.apple.queensu.ca/cj3b/EngineSwap.html These guys will be able to bolt anything you choose together: http://www.advanceadapters.com/ God Bless America, ßill O|||||||O mailto:-------------------- http://www.----------.com/ Allen McBroom wrote: > > We've got a 1952 Willys CJ3A with a frozen motor. Re: Willys/Ford Engine Swap? Possible?
Back then that would have been a really stupid idea, as there was
no diesel at gas stations, within fifty miles of Del Mar, California, during the early seventies: http://www.----------.com/dadJeep.jpg Plus he wanted to climb the hills he couldn't with the stock four flat head, to keep up with us: http://www.----------.com/68jeep.jpg God Bless America, ßill O|||||||O mailto:-------------------- Ted Azito wrote: > > I'll bet a Mercedes diesel would fit. |
