Tranny .... wtf?

Tranny .... wtf?
So I'm driving around this morning..... I make a little stop at,
interestingly enough, a local transmission shop to see if they have/can get
me a new speedo gear. I write down the phone number, I pull forward into a
parking spot, I back out, then I put it back in first gear. BUT, it doesn't
feel right. So I try again. This time my hand goes all the way to the
dash. DAMN! I try second gear, that seems fine.
So I can't get my 82 Scrambler (which I believe has the original eng. trans)
into any odd gears. 1, 3, and 5. however, 2, 4, and reverse seem to be
fine. I feel like it's some piece of linkage that has come loose or off.
Anyone have any insight on this issue?

It has come loose at the top and jumped the track inside by the sounds
of it.
You need to come at it from the top down.
There is this nylon bushing on the bottom of my T5 shifter that is
shot. Couldn't find one so put it back together without it. Mine is a
bit sloppy shifting, but it works fine. Got used to it fast.

Welcome to the world of Scramblers :).
The bolt in the back is the same as the others. Take it to your local
hadware store to find one like it. It's SAE, not metric. Make sure you
get the same or stronger bolt grade.
From what I've heard, it's very common for people to skip that rear bolt.
It's actually pretty easy to install with a proper 1/4" drive ratchet set
with a universal.

Welcome to the world of Scramblers :).
The bolt in the back is the same as the others. Take it to your local
hadware store to find one like it. It's SAE, not metric. Make sure you
get the same or stronger bolt grade.
From what I've heard, it's very common for people to skip that rear bolt.
It's actually pretty easy to install with a proper 1/4" drive ratchet set
with a universal.

You might want to consider an hurst or B&M short throw shifter. This will
replace all your boogered up parts and result in a much shorter throw than
stock. It's a bit pricey at $200.00 but it sure makes shifting alot sweeter.
